haikus!

Hikus!

Craving.

A sliced brioche roll

hungry for a fine slider

caramelized onion.

Walking.

Gust wind blowing east

cherry blossoms surrounding

the sun is shining

poem shizz.

“I Am Poems”

I am

Salt, Fridays, and Good times.

I like the sound of a sizzle and laughable memories.

Honesty, Integrity, and Humor are important to me.

I am a great friend.

I sometimes over judge

but its because of that I have solid friends.

Like a giraffe I can always see the bigger picture.

Through the hardships I hope to find fulfillment.

I wish to have stronger faith.

This is me. I am.

Things I learned last year

(with apologies to William Stafford)

by Jp Yost

Mayfly, when they reach adult hood,

it’s thirty minutes to a twenty-four.

Sometimes its better to learn from others

specially if its on mistakes.

A man in a kitchen

always cooking something up.

He will cook you something but

he’ll charge you for cooking school.

Rules are rules, meant to be followed,

Though they’re always broken.

If I ever die I’d like it to be

a setting, sun, on a grassy hill in the middle of fall. That way,

when the leaves fall, I’ll have warm colors to go with me, and

forever will I lay in my favorite quarter of the game.

In the moment in time, deciding whether left or right

you take a leap based on faith.

Believe in it cause its time that’s unrecoverable.

quote response 4-15-10

"Yo, Tina! Get over here!" slowly she walked towards us, then took one look at Old Crow and threw up again. "When your finished barfing you f****** stomach out, I need you to hold on to Old Crow. Hurry up!"
ch. 2 pg. 40

this whole thing is really intresting because it makes you feel like you were there watching everything unfold which is really great writing with the dialogue. Its great and i thought i would write this because since we just finished with the whole dialogue section of our class.
Dialogue makes a story feel more. and through out the book theres plenty of dialogue.

Quote Reaction 4-6-10

"Here, mister, merry christmas."
"Thank you, little girl, merry christmas to you too."
"I'm not little, I'm a big girl, eight years old."
Then her parents spoke, "Come on, honey, we have to go."
"Bye, mister."
"Bye-bye, big girl."
She ran to her mother. They're holding hands now. Walking away, she turned her head, looking at me and smiling. I waved back and the smile widened, revealing two front teeth missing. I had to turn my head away. I didn't want her to see my tears.
ch.1, 9 Lost souls, Cadillac Man

Some background info on what's going on in the context is that the scene takes place at a church front steps and Cadillac Man, a homeless man of 6 months, was sitting to watch the tourist come by.

This quote really stood out to me because it did a very good job of showing that homeless people are and always will be human beings and that they also have feelings, emotions. This was a great moment in the book because its the first time it shows that Cadillac man has some sense of care for the past and he has some burdens hiding behind his heart and is just being buried beneath all of the effort to just survive the day, theres no time to spare to be all emotional kinda type of thing

This is written pretty well, an author who had no literary background, a street person being able to write this is amazing.

Thinking back.

All I can say is wow!
Thinking back, not like a few months back or anything like that. More like year and plus months back like a ton of months back plus a year, whew boy was I different.
A huge change took over the old jp and made a better person, yet still in the making..

Though right now its super like... blehh... you know what i mean?

Random thought: It bugs the crap out of me when the library at school is loud...
What comes to mind when someone says library?
to me initial thoughts would be: studying, reading, QUIET..
WHAT THE FRICK?! why cant people follow simple rules?

Character Sketch

Driving back to Seattle from weeks worth of adventures from Southern California. Nacho is driving, Sonya is in the passenger seat, and I’m straight lounging in the back seat enjoying the true hip-hop music. People think hip-hop is rap, rap is not hip-hop, though rap did branch of hip-hop but that doesn’t make rap hip-hop in any way what so ever. Rap just straight talks about drugs, sex, the size of their bling, who they’re going to kill next, and did I mention the size of their bling? See hip-hop in the other hand talks more about the struggles of life, their sort of lifestyle from graffiti to b-boying, and all that historical scene with a twist with words they us. And that my friend, is just scratching the very surface of it. But enough of this music talk, I’m here to tell you about our adventures.

It took us nearly four days to reach SoCal, after seven different rest stops, five gasoline stations, two motels, and one tire change, we made it all in one piece. It was a great drive there; we shared a lot of laughs, tears, and angry words with each other, It’s funny cause in that short amount of time we became so close to each other that if you ask one of use to write a autobiography about each other we would have wrote pretty much the same book. We got to know each other in a whole another level. It’s almost as if we knew each other from day one. In the last night we planned which spots we were going to hit up, first we are heading to L.A., then Long Beach, Hollywood, Universal Studios, and just some other hidden spots where we can just chill, take pictures and tear it up with our skateboards.
